On Saturday, March 5th from 9am-2:30pm Calgary's Studio Revolution is hosting a HEMM pop-up shop! Inspired by the studio culture, workout and of course the clients and babes that teach there, we couldn't resist hosting a pop-up shop so YYC can check out our product in person. If you haven't had a chance to check out a SURFSET class yet, maybe this quickie with sassy instructor Karleen Samson (@karleensamson) will convince you to hustle in for a session!

What and where do you teach?

I teach SURFSET @yycstudiorevolution + Barre @thesweatlab.

Describe your workout style:

I like my workouts challenging... to that fine line where you feel like puking a little. Ok, so kinda gross but there's nothing like pushing myself to that physical edge to show my mental self whats up.

Favourite piece of activewear you own:

A black mesh tank - you're "covered", airy, and look badass.

Best piece of fashion advice you've been given:

Dress for you. If you think your outfit is fly, everyone else will believe it too.

What does a typical week of workouts look like for you?

Sunday: Teach Barre, take a spin class.
Monday: Rest day!!
Tuesday: Teach 2 SURFSET classes (one strength + one cardio). If I'm feeling ambitious, I'll jump in a TRX class.
Wednesday: Try to get to on my yoga mat.
Thursday: Teach Barre, schedule time for myself to do mobility work and stretch.
Friday:  Teach 2 SURFSET classes (one strength/cardio + one party on the surfboard w/a live DJ)
Saturday: Early AM spin to start the day.

If you could only do one type of workout for the rest of your life what would it be?

Only one? Oooo, that's cold! I truly believe that the versatility of what can you do with the SURFSET board would keep me strong, challenged and balanced fo lyfe!

Favourite healthy snack:

Cold pressed juice. Any kind. Nutrients boom.

Guilty pleasure:

A spoon full of Nutella... erryday.

If you could give just one piece of health advice what would it be?

Find an activity that you're hooked on. When you work out for you and only you, it becomes less of a chore and more of a necessity. Oh, and try and eat all the good stuff! Reaching fitness goals is 80% proper eating habits - but even I struggle with that. #thestruggleisreal

Current mantra:

Do dope shit.
