How Sculpt Barre Studio Owners Stay Fit, Fed, Caffeinated, and Relaxed in Edmonton

We’re headed to Edmonton this weekend to visit the squad at Sculpt Barre and our legs are already shaking in anticipation! We wanted the inside scoop on how to stay fit, satiated, and caffeinated while in YEG and Sculpt Barre studio owners Nikki Smith (Founder), Jess Enano, Tracey Kalbfleisch, and Jenny Sproule were eager to share their favourite Edmonton spots. Nikki Smith | Founder + Studio Owner | @sculptbarre

Background: My educational background is in Business (MacEwan University) and Fashion Business (Parsons). Yoga by training (The Yoga Institutute in Texas). In addition I have 5 years experience in method development as the Founder of Sculpt Barre.

Typical workout: Foundation, it’s a combination of barre/pilates/yoga. I also sprinkle in an occasional row, spin or boxing class every so often.

Current fitness goal: I really want to complete a 30-Day Challenge. My, "I don't have time" excuse is getting old.

Go-to spot for a healthy meal in Edmonton: There's an eatery in downtown Edmonton called KB + Co. It's absolutely my number one place to fuel up.

Best place for a coffee date: My fave cafe - Little Brick Cafe is lovely.

Where can we find you on a day off? I'm such a home hermit. It takes a lot to get me to leave my house on a day off.

Best place to relax in Edmonton: If you are a dog lover Edmonton has great dog parks and trails. It’s my favourite way to turn my brain off.

Background: I grew up a competitive dancer and athlete. I am also a Pediatric Nurse at the Stollery Children's Hospital.

Typical workout: I occasionally run but ever since I found barre I’ve been hooked. I finally found something that stuck!

Current fitness goal: My fitness goal is to do something active every single day.

Where can we find you on a day off? With my husband Archie and our daughter Charlie. We like to be outside, checking out shops, and making each day an adventure for her!

Go-to spot for a healthy meal in Edmonton: There's a place called The Greenhouse, I love their salads and wraps.

Favourite Juice Bar: GlowJuicery has some great options.

Best place for a coffee date: Remedy makes a great London fog!

Tracey Kalbfleisch | Studio Owner | Sculpt Barre Edmonton South | @sculptbarresouth

Background: I was an Optician and Legal Assistant for years. I'm a mother of 5 kids so fitness soon became a passion for me and I was thrilled to be a part of Sculpt Barre's first studio opening. After 2yrs of training under Nikki I got the opportunity to become a Studio Owner. It's been an absolute dream come true!

Typical workout: Barre + spin. I also run in the summer ;)

Current fitness goal: To maintain a fit body and stay healthy so I can always keep up with the kids. I also focus on toning my back, I love the open back shirts that are out!

Where can we find you on a day off? I’ll either be doing the books for my husband's trucking company or making time to go for lunch with a friend.

Go-to spot for a healthy meal in Edmonton: I love the tuna salad at Browns and Joeys.

Favourite Juice Bar: Jugo juice. My fave for a smoothie or fresh juice.

Best place for a coffee date: Starbucks.

Best place to relax in Edmonton? Any trail with the kids that we go walking. We love the Fort Edmonton foot bridge.

Background: I was a stay at home mom for 6 years with two little ones. We were living in the USA for the majority of it and I fell in love with boutique fitness. When we moved back to Winnipeg... I knew exactly what this city needed. Sculpt Barre.

Typical workout: Barre! It fits my lifestyle; I get amazing results but never have to worry about risking injury. I also try to sneak in a spin class whenever I can.

Current fitness goal: To be active 6 times a week. Not every one of the 6 days needs to be an intense workout, just fitting in time for my health is a must and is good for my physical and my mental well being.

Where can we find you on a day off? A hockey rink, dance studio, or gymnastics gym aka running my kids around for their activities. When I actually get a day off, I enjoy going back to my parents in the country and just enjoy a quieter day with my family.

Jenny Sproule | Studio Owner | Sculpt Barre Sherwood Park | @mokshayoga_sherwoodpark

Background: I opened Moksha Yoga Sherwood Park 6 years ago and we brought Sculpt Barre in this past summer – it’s been a match made in heaven! Besides running the studio and teaching as much as I can, I have two little ones at home, Isla and Sawyer.

Typical workout: Yoga is in my blood. And I also started running half marathons.

Current fitness goal: I will run a full marathon. I'm not sure when, but I'm going to do it!

Where can we find you on a day off? If I can sneak away for a date with my husband we try!

Go-to spot for a healthy meal in Edmonton: Freshii is my pick.

Best place to relax in Edmonton? My studio. The hotter and quieter the better.
