Your body is aching to OM for a weekend so you signed up for a yoga retreat, fantastic! Going into the weekend worry free is going to seriously elevate your experience. What you don’t need to concern yourself with? Having the right thing to wear. You’re going to be sitting, flowing, sweating and twisting so you need clothing that’s going to carry you through every single breath. Have a look in your closet, what are your favorite pieces to wear to yoga class? Take those. Don’t even think about touching the items you wear on laundry day (when everything else is dirty). Fashion can be an expression of your personality and when you feel good in your clothing it boosts your confidence. Practicing yoga can be an emotional experience, so that confidence boost might come in handy. Below are some of our favorite pieces to take to yoga retreats and if nothing lit you up when you opened your closet we’ve included some of our top selling yoga styles.
Imagine doing a forward fold or relaxing into child’s pose. Picture yourself doing this in low-rise leggings. Not good is it. Save the rest of the retreat from seeing your full moon and load up your weekend bag with any one of these high-rise capris and leggings.
Sassy Sports Bra
You’re not throwing punches at a boxing bag nor are you popping in and out of the saddle on a spin bike. A high support (unless you love high support) bra isn’t a necessity however you do need one that will move with you, won’t chafe and provides coverage. Again, envision that forward fold. A style that’s high enough in the front and wicks moisture is key. A strappy, unique back is also essential. Why not show off your fashion sense with something a little different?! We love the back on the Divine Sports Bra from Koral, the cut outs on the Troy Bra from Olympia are functional and on trend and the strappy detail on the Vinyasa Bra from Onzie goes well with any tank.
Things will heat up and cool down during your practice. Your tank top is all personal preference. Do you like styles that are loose and flowy, that you can style by tying? Or do you prefer snug fits that stay in place throughout your vinyasas? There’s no right or wrong when it comes to selecting a tank top. Just remember to pack a few of them, you’ll likely change them once or twice daily and select styles that you feel comfortable in. Be prepared for savasana with a light, long sleeve layer. Onzie’s Drapey V Back shows off your strappy sports bra and lets you cool down in style. Need something a little heavier? Pack a Spiritual Gangster sweatshirt or something like the Ivy Sweatshirt from Strut-This. It’s a classic style that goes with both leggings and denim. Versatility in your wardrobe is key!
Ditch the plastic water bottles and invest in a refillable glass and silicone BKR bottle or stainless steel S’well Bottle. Both are toxin and BPA free. Bonus, they come in attractive colors and designs!
